My students love to paint and draw! Painting is one of their favorite things to do. My classroom is often chosen as the designated classroom for our students with special needs, and painting is one of the most beneficial ways to help our students make progress in language, literacy, and with their fine motor skills. It's a practice that not only facilitates cognition but also speech and language; it also strengthens hand, wrist, and finger movement. After painting, students are asked to explain what they painted using 5 or more words. As they progress, they are asked to write the first letter of each word from their response. When painting, my students find joy in learning and they flourish in ways that set them up for meeting and/or exceeding expectations. We would love to have this new easel and paper to use daily.
