A class set of Chromebooks would give my students opportunities in science class that they may not otherwise be able to experience. Our curriculum focuses heavily on human impact on the environment. There are a tremendous number of interactive simulations and models that my students can individually manipulate if they each have their own Chromebook. Furthermore, in class we spend a great deal of time and energy finding solutions to local and global issues. Students can not only conduct research using the Chromebooks, but also create presentations on a seemingly endless number of platforms.
Providing each student with a Chromebook to use in science class will help catapult their learning. Students will be able to take the content material and develop their own questions based on their individual interests. Student-led inquiry is imperative for student engagement! In addition, many of my students participate in an annual Science Fair and having technology readily accessible makes the process seamless.
