These books will be used every week in K-2 music classes to help children build music listening skills and to have meaningful, positive literary experiences. Music provides many students who may struggle with reading and writing in traditional learning environments opportunities to achieve literary success. Stories such as "Had a Little Rooster" and "Fiddle-I-Fee" teach students about sequences of objects as more and more characters are added to the song. Stories such as "Jennie Jenkins" and "Down by the Bay" are used to teach students how rhyme schemes work and gives them opportunities to incorporate their own rhymes in the song. Through the joy of music, reading will come alive for students and help them to develop the skills they need to become not only musicians but lovers of reading and storytelling as well. Your donation will go towards literature which will greatly expand the repertoire that students will use for music and literary concepts.
