I spent a lot of time listening to students and asking them what kind of classroom would be conducive for learning but also help put them at ease. I was able to create a space that was a good start to the mission I had to make the classroom feel more like a community. Unfortunately, due to a lack in my budget and the Covid crisis, things will have to change next year. My budget was nothing so I gathered free furniture through Craigslist finds. Some of those finds did not stand the test of junior highers and I now need sturdy replacements. With the Covid crisis, sanitation policies have changed and we are no longer allowed to have fabric couches, chairs, or furniture. I am hoping to keep the same feel and engagement of my class but with more sanitary and durable furniture - which comes at a cost. Thank you for supporting my classroom and my students. It means the world!
