I am thrilled to be teaching in a bilingual classroom once again! My students are in need of a listening center with books written in Spanish. I would love to be able to provide them with authentic picture books written by native Spanish speakers to encourage a love of reading. I would purchase either cassette tapes or CDs along with at least three copies of the same picture book to be used in the listening center. Once my students have learned how to read in their native tongue, Spanish, they will be ready to begin reading in English. The best way to insure future reading success is to start the process in the language in which they know more words. I hope to give them the lifelong gift of a love of reading! Please help me help them.
