Many of my students learn best from visual models. Throughout the e learning process, it has been difficult for me to teach math and other subjects without a touch screen feature on my school provided computer. Having a tablet would allow my students to be able to learn new contact, by allowing me to to teach using visual models. Having a touch screen tablet would allow me to use a stencil to demonstrate how to solve different math concepts, such as adding three numbers together, solving number sentences, filling out ten frames, and using a number line. Students and myself will have the ability to draw tens frames and pictures while solving problems. We will also have the ability to circle things, and cross things out when reading. These visuals will help the students to better understand what they are actually doing when they solve for 2+2+2. Students will be able to watch detailed lessons that are similar to what they would see in the classroom. When we return to the classroom, this iPad will be used as a learning resource for students to record videos of themselves reading, solving problems, and showing off their work. Students will be able to use the iPad to access apps such as Lalilo, teach your monster to read, epic books, etc. The IPad will also be used as a reinforcer for positive behavior. Student have a chart where they earn tokens for staying on task and showing effort in their work. If they earn 5 tokens within a lesson they are rewarded with a desired reinforcer or activity. Spending a few minute on the iPad playing an educational game would be a huge motivator for students. Your donation is greatly appreciated!
