Classrooms are becoming more and more high-tech with every new school year. Chalkboards have been replaced with smart boards, notebooks have been replaced with Chromebooks, and overhead projectors and been replaced with document cameras. Document cameras are excellent tools to share information with the whole class and keep students focused and engaged. Not all students learn in the same ways. Some may learn best by simply listening to the lecture, while others may prefer more visual aids. A document camera will give me the ability to easily instruct students in both ways and ensure that more of my students are engaged in the lesson regardless of their learning style. A document camera can help me be more creative in my lesson planning and help foster a more collaborative classroom. Instead of handing out assignments to be completed alone, my students and I can work together with the help of a document camera. The document camera will also allow me to scan materials digitally in the event that I have to teach virtually.
