Too often, students are asked to engage with texts that they don't see themselves represented in. The same narratives are told and prioritized in history and literature. Without engaging students with relevant texts, motivation for rigorous academic content becomes sparse. Help me show my students that their stories matter with a collection of diverse books. Not only will this increase their motivation and engagement in reading, but will continue to teach them about our ever growing multicultural society and how to play an important role in it! Thank you for your consideration!
