The sky is the limit when children are exposed to a variety of art supplies. Children's creative artwork helps us get into the mind of a child. This is very important when working with nonverbal children and children who can not fully express themselves. All of the materials I chose were chosen with the ability of each student in mind. Each child challenge is different from the other. Some have great hand and eye coordination while another child does not. One child may have greater fine motor skills than another child. Knowing each child's strength and weaknesses was key. Choosing materials that every child will be able to use helps build the child self esteem and empowerment. These materials will help the children in my class express themselves. I work with children who have disabilities. Using large paper with and easel will help the children to use a greater range of motion when they are writing, painting or drawing. The no spill cups with lids will help keep the paint in the cup, and the big paint brushes will support their gripping. The label maker would be a great access because we will be able to put reliable labels on things throughout the class to build up their reading ability and it will help with organization. The large ink pads will help the children use larger stampers and is a means of writing for some students.
