This makerspace starter kit will encourage students to create and show their learning in an authentic way. Lessons utilizing these materials will incorporate ELA, fine motor skills, STEM and foundational skills. These materials are required in activities found on PBS Kids Design Squad as well as other sites. These materials will also be used for independent activities, learning centers and "cool down" centers. Makerspaces go beyond arts and crafts. They allow students to design, problem solve and create. With each creation, students gain confidence and pride in the work that they do. Makerspaces speak to multiple learning styles and excites the learner.
