I am requesting a class set of the novel, Tears of a Tiger, by Sharon Draper. This is a fabulous book that deals with real-life teen issues. They are very real issues that my students can relate to. For that reason, students really become engaged with this book, and want to read more books by this author, or more books that are similar to this one. Using books like this in my instruction really helps to improve my students' reading comprehension. Many of the books that I have access to are not ones that my students enjoy or can really relate to. I would love to show them that there are books out there that they can really get into and enjoy, which can hopefully open up a joy for reading.
