My students would work better when in a comfortable setting and when they are able to choose their own means. Making sure students are comfortable is a high priority in motivating them in the classroom. I have noticed a huge difference when I've added a few lap desks and floor pillows as a choice of seating during independent work time. They are more focused and seem more comfortable. Giving them more options and having enough for everyone in the class will be so beneficial. These materials will also help engage the students more in collaboration and empowers them to think about how they work best. It gives the students multiple means of engagement, representation and expression. It would also build their skill of taking responsibility, having independence and the ability to share and reasoning. Flexible seating not only allows the students to sit in untraditional seats, but will allow them to be calm, focused and productive. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The bean bag chairs will have two uses, the students will be able to more them around the room and find a great sport to do independent work with a clipboard or when it's small group time it will stay at its table group. The wobble cushions , and metal stools will stay at their respective table groups, however, can be moved especially during Morning Meetings and Class Collaboration time. I've witnessed how letting the my students have a choice, whether it's seating, materials, or means of expression when showing work, affect their work and attitude and I hope with additional and different options will help them blossom even more.
