One of the first steps to being successful, in my opinion, is being organized. Many of these students come to class with the simplest of supplies such as paper and pencil while others come fully equipped with large binders, zipper pouches, dividers with pockets, colored pencils, markers, crayons and an endless supply of paper and pencils. One of my goals for the next school term is to try to level the playing field when it comes to organization tools. I feel half the battle would already be won if each student could start off with a large binder (at least 2 in.), a zipper pouch, markers, and a class set of dividers (maybe 8). In most middle schools you will find 4 teacher teams that serve 4 classes of approximately 25-32 students per class. Unfortunately, it is financially impossible for me to level the playing field by providing the needed supplies to get every student organized on day one. I appreciate your consideration and generosity in this project to get my students organized and ready to succeed!
