My classroom is located on an island in Southeast Alaska. We don't have Barnes and Noble or Target down the road to stock up on classroom items or help fill our bookshelves. We are also on a district-wide budget freeze, so it's completely up to us teachers to get the materials our students need! My kiddos have worked so hard this school year and accomplished so much, especially when you consider the challenges that have come with our current pandemic. My little busy bees have been reading up a storm and have blown through the available leveled readers we have available in our school. I would love to stock my classroom with high-interest chapter books to keep them motivated in their journey to become a life-long lover of reading. We might be on a rural island, but with amazing books, we can travel all over the world in our minds!
