The books sets that I am requesting will provide Math and Science literature experiences for students grades 3-5. Students meet before school to engage in reading and sharing about a variety of books, and there is a high interest in books with a Math and Science theme. Students are each given a copy of a shared title, and we participate in a combination of read aloud, buddy reading and independent reading sessions. Students often develop projects and creative art inspired by the books we read. The students then are able to choose whether or not to use the books to build their individual at-home libraries, share the books with peers, or donate them to their classroom teachers to enrich the classroom libraries at our 3-5 intermediate school. I strive to provide materials that support a depth of knowledge and are of high interest to students with a love of Mathematics and Sciences; emphasizing the exploration of nonfiction texts as a resource for knowledge empowers all students and raises awareness of the importance of being well-read.
