I am the first visual arts educator to teach digital photography at our high school. I want to expand students' abilities in using the computer lab by offering students who love drawing and painting a connection to the 21st century and use tools that mirror the world we live in. Having the opportunity to use a drawing tablet on the computer will engage those painting and drawing students in ways they have not been able to previously. Students love personalizing their artwork and the possibility of using a drawing tablet to create would bridge the gap between "traditional" art class to today's cutting edge art-making. Please help me bring my students' work to a whole new dimension by providing them the opportunity to draw with a stylus and use the computer to alter and digitize their work. Students choose to take digital photography for a variety of reasons but for some creating art can be out of their comfort zone. Students today are so comfortable with technology, I feel this opportunity would allow for more students to experience art and realize how amazing it is to use their creative voice through art creation.
