By making our classroom feel like an extension of their home, my students are more likely to work collaboratively, be vulnerable enough to make educational mistakes they can learn from and most importantly feel safe. In researching how to help my students feel less stress and more comfortable I discovered benefits from a relaxing environment. Studies show adding plants to a classroom increases learning improvements from 10-14%. If adding plants can increase learning growth can you imagine an entire environment change? In my class I have future leaders and I plan to provide them with the best environment to set them up for success.
