The funding of the headphones will help make an immense difference in the academic lives of my students. The ability to be able to listen to the general education curriculum is a blessing for my struggling readers. When the kids have the ability to access literature via audiobooks and decent headphones, it can make all the difference. Most of them have strong listening comprehension skills. Being able to hear books being read, with brand new headphones, will be very beneficial to them, not to mention exciting! They can participate in classroom discussions and feel as though they are no different from their peers. I also believe the kids will feel as though people really do care about them and their education, even though they have economic and academic difficulties.
