The materials will help create a comfortable spot for anxious, frustrated, unhappy students, as well as other students with big feelings, to calm down, think about their problem, think about how to solve their problem, talk about their problem, and to learn some coping skills. The tent will create a space that is cozy, calm, and fun for students. It will help them feel safe and comfortable to talk about what is bothering them when they come into the counseling office. The fidgets will help students focus their attention and calm down. The lights will help calm the room. I will turn off the bright lights in the office, and turn on the LED lights that will be on the tent to create a calming space. The weighted blanket will help students with anxiety. Students will come into my office when they are escalated, sit in the comfy corner, calm down, then talk about their issue, and practice coping skills with the counselor.
