The library at P. High/Middle School is very old, unmanned, and not utilized the way a library should be. The district has struggled financially in previous years to keep buildings updated, modern, and of easy access as the students' needs change. The students at PHS/PMS need to learn how to use a library again and need a fully functioning library to do so. Many of the books in current circulation are outdated, shelving units are breaking down, and the room itself is not functional. Much time and deliberation has gone into trying to change the room, figure out ways to acquire more books with very little funding, and begin a method of engaging the students with the library system. We have spent time weeding outdated books which has left our shelves looking bare. We need to acquire current books that the students will be interested in reading. I have selected books that will help to rebuild our library system and bring fresh, vibrant, new books into our circulation. We also have plans to create a space that the students will want to be in and to begin systems to engage the students with reading. We are excited to see what we can do to build/create a new library system and see it thrive!
