Flexible classroom spaces create a cognitive shift in which teachers begin to see that a space can be transformed to better meet the needs of students, so can instruction. In switching to flexible seating, there is no longer a frontal focus in the classroom. It no longer makes sense for all students to do the same work, at the same time, in the same way; instead, flexible seating opens up new ways of looking at teaching and learning. Facilitating learning while encouraging collaborations among students is important and a primary concern when it comes to out-of-the-box seating arrangements. A portable laptop stand allows students to move independently from one another while encouraging group work. Students can move the seat at any time in and out of groups. And it doesn’t need to be used for just laptops! It can be used as a writing table and observation desk when working outside.
