Since I am the inclusion teacher for my specific grade level, I have eight designated students that have an IEP, and four designated students that have a 504 plan for accommodations. I also have 10 students on watch for having low performance and reading skills. If this project is funded for me, I can give all of my students the support they need through the use of reading grade-level text, that supports their access to all genres of reading. We will be able to work one-on-one in guided reading groups and really focus on the reading of the text that they find interesting and that they would love to read. This funding would also allow me to give the students higher-level vocabulary and understanding of words that they have never before seen or heard. Allowing students to access grade-level text, with support from me and having something comfortable to sit in when they are in school for 75% of their day would allow them to get the best learning possible! In my class, I also have five students who have medical concerns that can impede their learning, due to not being able to sit for long periods of time. They need to get up and move around a lot in the classroom. If I were to be able to get the cushions for the chairs, the students would be able to learn at higher levels because they would have access to softer, more comfortable seats. Students would also be able to focus more because they would be able to rock around in their chair if they need to.
