Your generosity has made a meaningful impact on my students and the environment we create together every day. My goal has always been to create an inclusive classroom where every student feels welcome, valued, and safe—a true home away from home. Many children come to school carrying feelings of neglect or isolation, and because of you, our classroom is a place where they feel seen, supported, and included.\r\n\r\nThe reading materials you helped provide were carefully chosen to meet the diverse needs of my students. These books reflect different experiences, perspectives, and voices, allowing all students to see themselves represented while also learning about others. As a result, students are more engaged, more excited to read, and more open to sharing their thoughts and feelings during discussions 📚✨.\r\n One of my biggest goals for this project was to encourage students to become lifelong learners. Through these materials, students are learning to embrace a growth mindset—understanding that making mistakes is part of learning and growth. The stories expose them to different scenarios and viewpoints, helping them think critically, practice empathy, and see the world through a broader lens. Books truly take children beyond their own experiences. They help students develop compassion, problem-solving skills, and emotional awareness, all while fostering a love of reading. Thanks to you, my students are building these essential life skills in a supportive and inclusive environment. On behalf of my students and myself, thank you for believing in our classroom and investing in their future. Your kindness and support will continue to make a positive difference in their lives for years to come 💛.","fullyFundedDate":1763474704394,"projectUrl":"project/today-a-reader-tomorrow-a-leader/9487626/","projectTitle":"Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Yolanda Ruiz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8709177_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1691261450313","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8709177"},{"teacherId":8709177,"projectId":9460278,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and helping our 2nd grade students fly into the new school year with confidence, creativity, and excitement. Because of you, our classroom is better equipped with the essentials that make learning meaningful, engaging, and joyful. Simple items like wipes and resealable bags have made a big impact on our daily routines. Students are able to keep their learning spaces clean and organized while working on hands-on, project-based activities. This allows them to focus more on learning and less on worrying about supplies.Dry erase markers have become an essential tool during phonics and writing instruction. Students use them daily to practice phonics patterns, write words and sentences, and quickly reflect on their learning. Having fresh markers helps keep boards clean and makes students eager to participate.\r\n\r\nThe magical wand pencils, stampers, and writing tools have truly transformed writing time. These small but powerful items have sparked imagination and motivation, encouraging students to write beyond their greatest thoughts and dreams. Writing has become a magical experience where students feel free to explore fictional tales, nonfiction writing, and creative storytelling. Each stamp placed in their writing journal feels like a \"seal of Hogwarts approval,\" inspiring them to continue growing as writers.\r\nThe laminating pouches have allowed us to preserve and proudly display student projects, including habitats and stories, during gallery walks. Seeing their work showcased builds confidence and a sense of pride. The plushie has also played a special role by providing encouragement and motivation to students who need a little extra spark to find their voice in writing. Because of you, our classroom is a place where learning feels magical, students feel supported, and creativity is celebrated every day. They were buzzing with excitement, pointing out the inspirational signs and asking if the faux plants were real because they looked so vibrant! One student actually stopped in their tracks, read one of the motivational signs aloud, and said, \"I really needed to hear that today.\" It was a powerful reminder that our environment directly impacts a student's mindset before the lesson even begins.\r\n\r\nHow We Are Using These Resources\r\nWe are using these resources to build a \"Zen Workspace\" within our classroom. The faux plants have added a much-needed touch of nature and calm to our windowless corners, helping to reduce student anxiety during high-pressure tasks.\r\n\r\nWhat's Next for Our Students\r\nAs we move into our next unit on persuasive writing and public speaking, these materials will continue to play a vital role. We are currently:\r\n\r\nDrafting \"Personal Creeds\": Students are using the new signs as mentor texts to write their own motivational slogans that we will display alongside the plants.\r\n\r\nCreating \"Growth Zones\": We are designating the area with the faux plants as a \"Reflective Reading Corner\" where students can go to focus during independent research projects.\r\n\r\nYour contribution did more than just buy \"decor\" it provided the tools to create a culture of positivity and peace. It has helped with engagement, focus, and classroom management. Thank you again for your generous and thoughtful donation. \r\nWhen students were first introduced to this flexible seating option their eyes lit up. It was new and exciting. Students took turns and continue to work hard while using this flexible seating. We have uploaded some pictures of students sitting on the flexible seating and table configuration.
