All students can grow when they are given the right tools and support. This project will help my speech students grow and develop their receptive, expressive and social language skills. Communication helps a child express their feelings, self advocate, ask questions and learn about the world around them. Broadening the language of a young child gives them a voice. They can begin to share their ideas and engage with their teachers and peers about classroom themes. Some of the requested items like the Stories Cues cards will help children develop their reasoning, critical thinking and problem solving skills through complex stories. Words hold power and there is no greater gift than helping someone use words to find their voice. As former President Barack Obama said, “One voice can change a room, and if one voice can change a room, then it can change a city, and if it can change a city, it can change a state, and if it change a state, it can change a nation, and if it can change a nation, it can change the world. Your voice can change the world.”
