Reading is a crucial part in each child's development. This is even more crucial when student's come from an urban setting! Most of our students are significantly below grade level for reading. Having the ability to have a plethora of diverse books in their hands makes such an incredible difference. Students are able to see "kids like them" and learn about the history of their ancestors. It is such an incredible experience to watch then dive into a good book! Our passion for reading has allowed the students in our classroom to immerse themselves in the wonderful world of books. It is so important to us as urban teachers to bridge this reading gap!
