My classroom library is brand new this year and has become so important to how my classroom functions. Students are choosing books to read independently every day in class and at home; students are learning how to discuss the big ideas in books through fiction and nonfiction clubs. In my classroom, choice is paramount. We know we need to get books into every child's hands, and great books can transform lives! My diverse group of eleventh grade English students is making important decisions about their identity and their future; they're learning about people they've never met and places they've never gone -- books are one of the best ways to learn!
