Children have the opportunity to learn empathy through literature. There are so many social and emotional benefits of teaching empathy through literature. Literature that showcases empathy allows students to form more secure bonds with other students, parents, as well as teachers. It encourages tolerance as well as acceptance of others. Teaching empathy through literature produces harmony and can reduce the likelihood of bullying. The books I have carefully chosen are full of examples of children choosing kindness instead of hatred or indifference. I have chosen diverse books that my students will be able to see themselves in. Your generosity will help my students continue to develop their sense of empathy and kindness through books!
