The power of this research unit is that students will choose from four topics in order to research a current event they are passionate about. Topics include: LGBTQ Rights, The #MeToo Movement, Police Relations with Minorities, and Gun Violence. Students will learn how to navigate non-fiction articles about their topics while reading a narrative about how their topic truly affects people. This should make their topic feel more relevant & deepen their understanding of their topic while maintaining the rigor of an Honors class with an extended text. In class students will be researching in addition to having book club style activities & discussions. The hope is to make more informed, passionate, community members and also to get engaging books in front of our kids!
