My classroom is a scope of varying learning levels. However, what I have noticed with my students is that anytime we read a novel, all of them are actively engaged. Ears are perked! Eyes are wide open! Discussion is ready to roll off the tongue. It has all been about their interest in the book. I plan to continue that thirst and love for reading with my students by connecting it to real lives. Students will participate in book talks and discussion posts to help increase and improve their reading and writing. From these novels, students will learn about themselves and each other. They will write journal prompts to reflect on the themes found in the novels and be able to continue these discussions with their friends and family at lunch and at home. I want them to say, “Remember when, we read that book?”
