These books will enable my students to have access to great modern literature that represents the diversity of our current world. Students will have an individual choice of the books to read and to ponder about and to share with their peers in class discussions and book club meetings. Rather than feeling stuck with old dusty classics all the time, they will be free to explore the works of modern writers. This class library will continue to foster the students' love of reading and their choice of texts and themes that are relevant to them. It will help them grow not just as readers, but as communicators, thinkers, and active citizens of our diverse and multifaceted community.
