Giving students a wobble chair or wobble cushion will improve their ability to complete tasks in the classroom. These stools and cushions allow students to move as they work. The ability to expend excess energy through "wiggles" gives them greater focus. Wobble chairs increase engagement during lessons and engaged students are successful learners. A study by Beth Pfeiffer found that movement during learning increases attention in the school setting. Focusing on the instructions and completing assignments are essential skills students need to improve in reading and math. All learners need the ability to 'get their wiggles out', no matter their age. Wiggle chairs will give a variety of students with diverse learning styles the ability to focus and stay on task. Also included in this grant are bins, binders, and tubes to help students keep essential assignments and resource materials at their fingertips. This will foster independence and problem-solving. Ultimately, an organized and tidy classroom creates a calm, learning environment where students can quickly obtain needed materials then get to work.
