It's important to have a classroom library and presently there are no books in my new classroom. I want to introduce them to some great literature. The students will be able to check these books out and read them at home or school. The "Gregor the Overlander" series incorporates history, science, appreciating diversity, and social/emotional learning. I'll be using it as a whole class novel set. We can work on comprehension, language arts, and writing in a way that will entice my students to read so they can improve their skills. The use of white boards facilitates being able to answer in a way they can show me, but the other students can't see their answers. They can be used in small group learning. White boards will also be used to work out math problems while allowing me to see their thinking, not just giving me an answer.
