Providing students with technology in the classroom will give my students experiences they would not have access to at home. I am looking to incorporate tablets into the classroom to further extend my students' knowledge of technology and increase academic achievement in school. The Kindle Fire 8 Tablets will be integrated into all subject areas including whole group instruction as well as independent work. Kindergartners are extremely active individuals who are mesmerized by the pictures, movement, and colors displayed on the screens of technological devices. Because of this, the Kindle Fire 8 Tablets are sure to be a huge asset in the classroom in reaching all students at their current levels of learning whether it be below level or above level. Our Open Court Reading program has supplemental computer activities that my students will be able to use to enhance their learning. My students will want to complete the learning activities assigned to them because the Kindle Fire 8 Tablets will help to make learning extra fun. This technology would create an environment to accelerate students learning/ practicing English, promoting their experiences with technology, increasing their academic knowledge, and their achievement in school. Utilizing technology will enhance motivation and confidence in the students' educational careers. We will have the ability to access online books and apps that work with numbers, letters, sounds, and words. This would be achieved by using the graphics, videos, and audio to support different learning styles for English language learners as well as the whole class. According to Edutopia, technology accelerates the acquisition of phonics, increases vocabulary, improves reading-comprehension skills, and encourages language development. Learning is much easier when students don't view the activities as work so help me help my students and let the fun begin!
