This project will allow me to purchase basic lab supplies we will need to start off the year next year for a BRAND NEW microbiology program starting at our high school. My students are curious and eager to learn about the amazing diversity of life we are not able to see with the naked eye. These supplies will be used to begin the first 5 weeks of a new microbiology class offered to grades 9-12. These are the essentials to teach lab technique and demonstrate some basics of microbiology. The kits will teach them how to pour and prepare nutrient agar plates, how to streak and grow microbes, how to properly wash hands and other surfaces, and how to test their environment for microbes. Funding for the rest of the year will be provided by our school after the first few months of the year.
