These books will enhance my classroom library to support students who are struggling with reading as well as English language learners. It is beyond frustrating for a reader to try and read a book that they can’t comprehend. The only way to build that comprehension, and open up their academic possibilities, is to provide a large quantity of beginning books that they can read quickly and ferociously. Every student deserves to have a book in their hands, at their level, that they want to read. In addition to beginning-level books, are also more advanced novels in Spanish on my list because newcomer students to the United States still need the opportunity to practice high level cognitive thinking skills, while taking on the added challenge of learning English. Putting a book in the hands of a student has the power to change their life immeasurably.
