My 5th grade is an English language learner class. Through books, they are learning about the world, people and themselves. But more important to them, they are learning about the culture opening its doors to them. It has been very satisfying to see their English proficiency grow in the last few months. Most of my students don’t have access to books at home and, unfortunately, their parents cannot afford to buy a copy of the book I read to them during our Read Aloud time. With their own books, they will be able to interact with the text, to reread what we have read in class, or even to read ahead!

About my class
