I am a 5/6th combo teacher for San Diego Unified School District. I work in the Logan Barrio Neighborhood of Downtown San Diego. My school is a Title 1 school that services Barrio Logan Family Shelter, the Alpha Project Bridge Shelters, the Community Harm Reduction Safe Haven Shelter, and Rachel's Promise, a women's shelter. I welcome new students often, many in trauma, or recently immigrated. I have13 ELLs and 7 IEPS. All of these students have asked for more technology in the classroom. Tablets to help translate and meet IEP goals. My classroom is a calm and safe space, but it can also be a loud and vibrant space. Learning is not linear, the mistakes we make become the masterpieces of the learning process. A child deserves to have an emotional connection to their learning and the space in which it operates. I am honored to build relationships with my students and hope to give them the tools they need to grow.
