All of the students in my 1st-grade class want to read. There is a large variety of students in my room, coming all from different backgrounds and different home lives. The honest truth is that not every student has a guardian at home to read to them. COVID has impacted many students learning over the past couple of years. While my students have persevered and learned through the pandemic, there are still skills and standards they need help with. I want every student to be given the chance to hold a book and listen to a story. I have students that are reading 4th grade leveled books and students that are still learning their sounds. No matter where they are at in their learning journey, they all WANT to read! This listening center will give every single student a chance to sit down with a book and listen to a story, no matter where they are academically. I will give students a chance to be told a story through storytellers, different voices, and exciting background music to help grow their love for reading!
