We have slowly been working on updating our library media center into more of a multi-use space that is ideal for collaboration, small groups, technology use and meetings in addition to the library/study space. In the process of updating the library, several things have been added, displaced, or have become more unorganized. This project will help our students by having the library more organized and accessible for the changing needs. Our magazines and computers for our online catalog are two of the things that have lost their home. With a mobile magazine rack, the magazines can be displayed nicely and be moved around to optimal spots as the library use changes. The mobile desks would be used for the computers that students use for our online catalog. Since they are on wheels they can be easily moved based on what the current space need is. We had also moved some bookshelves off of a wall and replaced them with a counter and outlets that students can sit at to work on their Chromebooks and charge them or other devices at the same time. We had also added a charging area to the end of the counter. I would use the document trays to organize the charging area by having students put their Chromebooks in the trays to charge them. The cords would be attached to the sides and extra cord wrapped up neatly behind. These would condense the charging area to the size of the 2 document trays instead of being spread out with a tangle of cords. With the addition of the counter, we were also left with a large blank wall that I would like to hang various posters on. The posters I would like represent the updated vision of the space.
