The modern-day task of being a teacher today is certainly not an easy one. From the widespread misperception that teaching is easy, to the lack of support from parents and sometimes administration, to dealing with multiple disabilities and budget problems, teaching becomes less of a work of art and more of a work of heart. To have access to resources that can foster student learning and growth would be a tremendous opportunity for my classroom. Student voice and choice are two important components of making a successful classroom. The marker board desk will provide my students with a designated area that allows them to practice, apply their new learning, and make mistakes freely, without the pressure of failing in front of their peers. This project will not only help enhance student learning but also lead to an increase in student choice and motivation to learn.
