Upon entering our classroom, you are immediately drawn to a number of exciting critter enclosures! My 6th graders excitedly take you to each enclosure introducing you to guinea pigs, rats, leopard geckos, bearded dragon, milk snake and a hedgehog. You would definitely be impressed with the vast knowledge my students have for every classroom critter and you would witness a special bond between child and animal! On your critter tour, the students explain the temperament, diet, care, and many more exciting discoveries about our classroom critters. Our 6th graders have also developed a "Critter Connections" program where they present their extensive knowledge of our classroom critters to elementary students. Through this program, elementary students get a first-hand opportunity to interact with our critters while learning about them! By donating to our project, you will not only help improve student inquiry of live animals, but you will also ultimately help our students build a sense of responsibility and empathy.
