In a second-year teacher class I am taking, we discussed how bouncing lacrosse balls clear their prefrontal cortex for learning and releases serotonin. Doing some more research, I found that other classrooms and districts that have set aside time for bouncing lacrosse balls before learning time helps students prepare their minds and bodies for academic work. This activity has been proven effective for students in grades K-12. Bouncing lacrosse balls before class will help our students feel happier, build their motor skills, and clear their minds of preoccupying problems that their 5-6-year-old minds shouldn't have to worry about. I want to meet my students with whatever problems are prohibiting their focus and give all of our kindergarteners the chance to come to class ready to engage in learning.
