This project is to procure a classroom set of Anthony Burgess' literary classic A CLOCKWORK ORANGE. This famous book is a masterful exercise in the use of language and imagery, drawing readers in and then involving them in the ultra violent culture of that dystopian society. Before the readers even realize it, they have gone from curious spectators to near participants in the protagonist's activities, and learn valuable insights and lessons in the process. High School seniors enjoy this novel for its initial shocking subject matter, but then stay engrossed as the lessons are learned for both the characters and the readers. This classroom set will be used for several years and help enlighten hundreds of young adults as they leave school and enter our society.
