Second grade is messy! The class are involved in big community orientated projects where collaborative working is key. The students are learning to share, negotiate and communicate effectively, however, right now, the current table configuration is proving restrictive. It’s difficult to get around and support the needs of the students, it’s hard for them to work closely together and to have easy access to the variety of tools, like the Chromebooks.
We want to purchase new ‘flowertop’ activity tables that will allow the students to be equi-distant from one another, giving equal access to resources and allow them to communicate without having to shout across each other. The shape of the tables will allow for easier movement between groups for teacher and students for getting supplies, check-ins, one-on-one work, answering questions, and so on.They’re also robust which is great when teaching enthusiastic and excitable learners!!
What classroom has students in tidy rows of single desks anymore? We need furniture that reflects and supports the kind of learning we're actually doing.
