My kindergarteners love feeling like they are the teacher. That is exactly what the supplies on my wish list will empower them to do. We are looking to give our classroom library a face lift so children have hands on materials to help them both retell familiar stories with each other and have tools they can use independently to increase their reading abilities. The tools in this wish list will make them feel like teachers as they manipulate story pieces to practice retelling and sequencing and as they play with the sounds, rhymes and syllables in words to increase their reading abilities. When provided with these tools, students become confident little teachers to each other scaffolding their knowledge along the way. We can't wait to see how motivated they are reading into their new phones and tracking print with their little finger lights. Motivativating independent young readers one small tool at a time!!!!!
