I want to create a LEGO club at the school that will be run during lunchtime or during the school day in speech and language therapy sessions. Several therapy techniques dave been designed for students with social language deficits and teach them to work cooperatively and learn real-world life skills through modeling and rewards systems while engaging in cooperative play with LEGO building materials. A LEGO club incorporates both learning through cooperation with students with special needs as well as teaching tolerance to typical middle school students. Students will learn how to lead groups that will engineer and design models to be built and engage in cooperative groupings that will support the project. The groups will meet once a week to plan and design their models. Once the models are built the group will decide on the next model and start the building and designing process once again.
