I strive to encourage independent reading and collaborative learning in my classes. My current room has underutilized space, and I think that the simple act of providing some comfortable furniture like a futon sofa and Big Joe chair and homey decor like a bookcase and lamp will make the space feel more inviting. Kids are more productive when they're comfortable, so I'd like to present some options for that. It would also provide a warm space in which to conference with students who may need more individualized attention. Outside of the regular school day, the space would also be regularly utilized by both our National Honor Society and Leo Club for general meetings and officers' meetings.
