The books needed for my classroom range in levels and genres to meet my students’ needs. Additionally, these books include characters more relatable to my diverse group of students. My classroom needs more mentor texts for Reading and Writing Workshop, as well as texts for students to add to their book boxes to read daily. These books will allow for me to enrich my small groups and one-on-one conferences. In addition, my students need some materials to enhance their reading experience. My class needs reading phones, book bins and highlighter strips. Their reading abilities grow through the use of technology, too. We are in need of headphones for our iPads. Help me provide a relaxing and print rich environment for my students! It is a priority for my students to feel safe and comfortable. We need books that promotes positive self-talk and fidget tools for our relaxation station. This area is used as a calming area for students when they need to take a break in the classroom to regulate their emotions. This enables students to regroup and rejoin, ready to learn. Overall, this project will provide a print rich environment for my classroom. These resources will help my students grow as learners. This will allow for their reading comprehension, reading accuracy and fluency to improve.
