Math is everywhere. Numbers are everywhere. We're constantly computing things every day in life, whether it's some mental math or on the calculator. My students need basic materials such as calculators so that they are successful in and out of the classroom. A calculator is taken for granted as it is so easily accessible like on our cell phones, but my students need a standard scientific calculator (as cell phone usage is not always permitted- especially in the classroom!) As a high school math teacher, it's really challenging when I can't supply a simple calculator to all my students. I'm just a little short of a class set of calculators.
