These materials will provide my students with a more in-depth study and learning experience in three-dimensional arts. Since the start of the year, students in my Sculpture and Ceramics class have been interested in experimenting with clay, specifically in wheel throwing. Due to lack of materials however, they have only been able to practice small hand-building exercises, which we barely even had enough clay to complete.
My students have shown amazing creativity and a great understanding of three-dimensional skills when working with materials like cardboard and paper-mâché, and I would love to provide them with the opportunity to show those same skills and creativity in clay. Additionally, our school was just able to fix our kiln and fire the students' small hand-built sculptures, so we're more motivated than ever to begin expanding the students' ceramic knowledge.
Getting these materials for my students would help not only meet the course description for the Sculpture and Ceramics class but also provide students with exposure to a wider variety of cultural and art historical concepts.
